BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Suitable for those who have basic sewing machine skills already. You’ve either done a class with us before, or have a bit of experience and are comfortable with using a sewing machine and sewing by hand.
In this session you’ll be given advice on how to repair your own clothing and textile items (soft toy repairs, perhaps), and/or do simple alterations. Machine darning, patching, creative mending, even just sewing on buttons. Learn how to shorten your skirts and trousers, maybe even change a broken zip for a new one to let you enjoy your favourite jacket a while longer.
Studio sewing machines will be available to use, so no need to bring your own sewing kit. We’ll look at your garment and guide you through the process of repair or alteration.
Bring with you an item (maximum 2 items please) that requires a little tlc. Our expert tutor will be on hand to take you through the process, step by step. Remember – you will be doing the work yourself, so you can do it again at home another time.
No haberdashery is provided in this session. If your item needs a new zip, you need to bring a replacement zip with you to the session, and it must be a like for like replacement. Don’t bring a 6 inch zip when the original was 18 inches please, or a basic dress zip when you need a jacket zip. We do not keep stock of any items, so bring what you know you’ll need. This includes thread – we keep some thread colours but if you need something to match exactly, then you’ll need to bring it with you.
This class requires at least 2 guests to run. In the event that we don’t reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we’ll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS the day before class.
