Zipped and Piped Cushion Cover

Saturday 28th May, 10am to 1pm

Make a zipped and piped cushion cover. You’ll cut your own paper pattern, learn how to make your own piping from your chosen fabric, how to add it to the cushion cover and then finish with a zip neatly hidden in a seam.

You will need to pre-purchase fabric, zip and thread for your cushion, and bring your own sewing kit. Full details will be provided on booking.

A square, hypo-allergenic cushion pad is included in your fee.

Studio sewing machines can be reserved for an additional £5 fee. Please bring your own machine if you can.

To take this class, you should be comfortable using your sewing machine and have basic sewing skills. Basic sewing instruction is not part of this class, so complete novices could book an Absolute Beginners session with me first.

£55 per person.

Japanese Knot Bag

Tuesday 7th June, 10am to 12 noon

Make a beautiful Japanese Knot bag using my self-drafted pattern. Small and perfectly formed, this little bag is perfect as an evening bag, a bridesmaid gift, used as reuseable gift wrapping (and extra present) or to stop your yarn escaping whilst you knit or crochet. It can be made out of simple cotton or silks, depending on your final use.

You will need to bring with you one or two pieces of cotton fabric in co-ordinating colours, fabric to use as lining and a spool of matching thread, along with your sewing machine and kit.

Studio sewing machines can be reserved for an additional £5 fee. Please bring your own machine if you can.

Creative Textile Workshop

Saturday 11 June, 10am – 5pm

Please bring a packed lunch that doesn’t need to be put in the fridge.

Explore the world of textile art using your sewing machine, coloured pencils, fabric scraps, threads, yarns and simple hand embroidery to create a unique fabric panel. We will then turn this panel into either a cushion cover or a small bag.

All materials for this class will be provided, but feel free to bring any fabric scraps, ribbons, threads, beads or buttons etc that you may want to use.

Please bring your own sewing machine if possible, along with your sewing kit (scissors, needles, thimble if you use one). Studio sewing machines can be reserved for an additional £5 fee.

In the morning, we will work on our textile pieces, building up layers of fabric, threads and yarns, before embellishing with machine and hand stitching to add texture and detail.

After lunch we will complete our textile pieces and then, time permitting, use it to make either a small bag or a cushion cover. Alternatively, you may prefer to keep it as it is and frame it as a picture.
