Classes can cover everything from learning basic stitching skills, beginners and more advanced pattern cutting, beginners dressmaking, onto more advanced skills such as perfecting particular techniques, working with difficult fabrics and textile craft based classes such as hand embroidery, needle felting, applique and textile art, free machine embroidery, simple soft furnishings such as lampshades, cushions and roman blinds and creative bag making.

I teach dressmaking and sewing skills mostly on a one-to-one basis, but two can book together if you prefer. Working with you on a one to one basis allows me to focus on your needs exclusively and means that you enjoy not just access to my studio space, but allows you to work at your own pace and with my full attention. I’m also able to watch how you work and suggest different methods or tools that will suit your abilities and needs better. Sessions start at £20 per person for 2 hours (this is the minimum booking time). You will need to bring your own sewing machine and kit with you, including your machine manual.

If you don’t have a sewing machine of your own, there is the option to use one of the studio machines for a small additional fee. It’s better if you bring and use your own machine, but I understand that absolute beginners may prefer to wait until you know you enjoy sewing before you spend the money. Using a studio machine will get you started. You will still need to bring your own simple sewing kit – a list of the basic supplies needed will be emailed to you when you book your first class.

For more confident stitchers, time can be booked in my studio for independent Studio Time, at £5/hour per person. There is space for two people to be working at the same time, so you may like to come with a friend and enjoy some “sewcial” time together. You will have access to my studio space and some of my equipment and of course, peace to work uninterrupted and a bottomless cup of coffee or tea. I will also be on hand to assist when needed with any tricky techniques and your fittings, but you’ll be expected to work mainly on your own.

Full day creative classes will be added throughout the year, and will have space for 4 to 8 people, depending on the project being made. Please read each class synopsis carefully before booking your place.

Supplies – we keep a small stock of basic supplies for our own use and can offer some items such as pattern paper, toile fabric and interfacings by the metre. Please enquire for availability and costs.
