Mass manufacture is vastly different from made to measure, with factors such as economies of scale, huge discounts for purchasing hundreds of metres of each fabric used and incredibly detailed and precise manufacturing structures - a machinist may spend their entire working week just sewing in zips, one after the other. Another may just sew on buttons, day in, day out, year after year.
Made to measure is all about you as an individual, not making 1000 garments in a week. I take the time I require to ensure your garment is made to the highest standard and incorporate multiple skills into each garment. I do it all, myself. My skills and experience have a value that I will not compromise.
Costs vary depending on the amount of work required. The prices shown here are a rough guideline to what you will be charged. Please note that my fee structure changes according to the Service used. Please call to arrange an appointment with me, which will allow me to evaluate your project and give you a quotation in writing, along with a contract and a copy of my terms and conditions.

Make-up service
Clothes are made from a purchased pattern in a standard size from the envelope. This price level does NOT include any adaptations, alterations or fittings except for final hem length. This literally is simply a make-up service, and is useful for children's garments or items that do not require a close fit such as relaxed fitting coats and jackets. You choose your commercial pattern and your fabrics and get a garment that is unique to you, but without the costs involved with fittings. As this is such a basic service it does not include formal garments for adults, although children's party/flower girl dresses are included. If I have to use an adult pattern, then unfortunately I have to charge an adult price, so this cost depends on your child fitting into a standard commercial child's size.

Made to Fit Service
We start with a purchased commercial pattern in your selected design, but adjust it for fit, as required. You may have multiple fittings of first and second toiles (test garments) to achieve the best fit possible. Please note that the prices shown do NOT cover any design or style changes - these will be quoted for on an individual basis. This service is all about the fit, so it's worth spending that little bit extra to ensure a dress fits correctly over the bust, for example.

Custom Fit Service
Custom fit basic, classic garment patterns made just for you. Do you have trouble finding trousers that fit you properly around the hips and waist? Bluebell Design can cut a pattern to your own measurements for garments that are classic, everyday items, achieving a great fit on something you will wear again and again, such as simple, straight legged trousers, pencil skirts, or a well fitted blouse. The pattern we create is just for you. It will fit you as best as possible and it will be carefully stored by Bluebell Design in case you wish to have more garments made from it in the future. This is an excellent service for those with hard to fit figures, who wish to build their wardrobe up slowly over time with garments that will be worn and loved.

Bespoke Design Service
These garments are the total bespoke dream - clothes made specifically to your wishes. Bluebell Design offers a full design service, from initial consultation, design sketches through to pattern cutting for your figure and beautiful detailed hand stitching. Your garment will be inspired by our discussions and your own desires and dreams. Designs may involve handwork such as beading and embroidery and your finished garment will be as unique as you are. We expect this service to be chiefly for those highly precious garments such as wedding gowns and formal dresses but any item of clothing can be made using this service.

FITTINGS AND ALTERATIONS
Each alteration is evaluated on an individual basis, so all prices are a guideline only. Bluebell Design reserves the right to adjust these prices for hard to handle fabrics, complex shaped garments and alterations requiring a short turn-around. Prices can also be adjusted downwards. This is entirely at the discretion of Bluebell Design.
Please note that some alterations may well require more than one process – the cost of these adjustments will be added together to come to your final cost.
